Amazing Shapes, Having Fun With Geometric Shapes: A Find and Count Book, Hardcover

In "Amazing Shapes: Having Fun With Geometric Shapes" your child will learn about 2D (two-dimensional) and 3D (three-dimensional) geometric shapes, as they are actively learning to read and count. Additionally, by using the "Parent Pages" of accompanying information, your child will be introduced to important geometrical terms and concepts that they will use throughout their education.

The first steps in exploring geometric shapes is to have your child observe, recognize and name the shape. Then, you can expand the concept by looking at the lines that make up the shape. Focus on how the figure is drawn. Note the relationship of the lines to one another including the length, angle and placement. Having your child trace the lines with their finger is a good first step. Younger children can start with the flat plane, 2D shapes focusing on height and width, then, as they are ready, you can introduce solid 3D shapes, adding the concept of depth. Learning about geometric shapes, as well as finding them in the real world, will help develop your child's spatial sense, while also promoting their higher level thinking and problem solving skills.

Additionally, this book puts into practice the skill of repetition. This repetition of seeing, hearing and saying a concept or word out loud is a fundamental learning tool that not only encourages mastery of new skills but provides a sense of security and confidence through its predictability.

The bright, colorful images combined with the interactive repeating text is a winning combination that is sure to capture and hold your child's interest, while inspiring a want-to-learn attitude toward future exploration. So sit back and relax while you enjoy this engaging learning experience with your child.
