Renowned Georgia birders John Parrish and Giff Beaton share their expertise and passion in this wonderful field guide to 322 species of birds found in the Peach State. In the largest state east of the Mississippi, opportunities to view nature abound. The diverse terrain ranges from the Appalachian Mountains in the north, the Piedmont, the Coastal Plain, and the barrier islands of the Gulf Coast. Included are:
Dr. John Parrish is a life member of the American Ornithologists' Union, the Kansas Ornithological Society and the Georgia Ornithological Society. Dr. Parrish has been active in the USGS Breeding Bird Survey program, assisted with the Georgia Breeding Bird Atlas project and is an active participant in the Audubon Christmas Bird Count program. He is an avid birder and photographer, and you won't see him in the field without both his binoculars and telephoto-equipped SLR camera. Giff Beaton has been leading bird tours in Georgia and across North America for more than twenty years, and he has been on the state Bird Record Committees for both Georgia and South Carolina. He and his wife Becky live in Marietta, Georgia, not far from the great migrant location Kennesaw Mountain.
