Sir Arthur Conan Doyle fue el creador del detective más célebre de la historia de la literatura, Sherlock Holmes, y su inseparable compañero, el doctor John Watson. Las 12 historias recopiladas en este volumen se publicaron entre 1891 y 1892 en The Strand Magazine.
