Monty MacDrum is the last of the MacDrum clan, a Scottish clan of mini-magicians. Monty is six years old and wins first prize in a spell competition. He becomes a Menor - a junior Wensum. Monty doesn't read his Menor spell instructions and his first Menor spell goes very wrong. By mistake, Monty conjures up the genie Horum the Hassum from Hummland, the greatest of all genies. Horum humm talks and changes colour according to his mood. Due to not reading the Menor spell instructions, Monty also changes colour according to his mood. The spell goes so wrong that he also conjures up the nasty, dirty, smelly witch Crazy Crew, the curse of all Menors and Wensums. Monty's secret weapon is his helicopter hat, with which he can fly.
