Alan Quill is a writer, though often at a loss for words. What, if anything, can give a young man with a creative heart the strength to overcome a world of utility? The answer, like many others, isn't so easily found - which we find as we follow Alan through his struggles and discoveries, facing the pitfalls of addiction, depression, obsession, love, loss, and disillusion. So, we go with Alan on a journey through his life - or the moments of significance therein - where he leaves the safety of his suburban home in Colorado to pursue what he hopes will be a more fulfilling life in New York. Of course, with a new location comes new challenges, new pleasures, and a girl. Every new thing presents an opportunity to find the meaning Alan so desperately seeks, but where will it all lead? What really matters?

Calvin Merseal was born and raised in Denver, CO where he developed his love for literature, music, film, art, and culture. He plays drums and writes lyrics for the progressive rock band, Amalgam Effect. When writing, he is always looking for the connections between all forms of art and media, finding joy and fulfillment in breaking the boundaries of popular and academic/high culture.
