State and Metropolitan Area Data Book 2020, Paperback

The State and Metropolitan Area Data Book is the continuation of the U.S. Census Bureau's discontinued publication. It is a convenient summary of statistics on the social and economic structure of the states, metropolitan areas, and micropolitan areas in the United States. It is designed to serve as a statistical reference and guide to other data publications and sources. This new edition features more than 1,500 data items from a variety of sources. It covers many key topical areas including population, birth and death rates, health coverage, school enrollment, crime rates, income and housing, employment, transportation, and government. About author(s):Deirdre A. Gaquin has been a data use consultant to private organizations, government agencies, and universities for more than 30 years. Prior to that, she was Director of Data Access Services at Data Use & Access Laboratories, a pioneer in private sector distribution of federal statistical data. A former President of the Association of Public Data Users, Ms. Gaquin has served on numerous boards, panels, and task forces concerned with federal statistical data and has worked on five decennial censuses. She holds a Master of Urban Planning (MUP) degree from Hunter College. Ms. Gaquin is also an editor of Bernan Press's Almanac of American Education; the Congressional District Atlas; The Who, What, and Where of America: Understanding the American Community Survey; Places, Towns and Townships; and County and City Extra. Mary Meghan Ryan is a senior research editor for Bernan Press. She is also the editor for Handbook of U.S. Labor Statistics, Employment, Hours, and Earnings: States and Areas; and co-editor for County and City Extra and Places, Towns and Townships. In addition, she serves as the associate editor for Business Statistics of the United States: Patterns of Economic Change.
