These are personal accounts by Brigadier Gen. Art McChrystal. Art joined the army in 1917. Duty with the 15th Infantry took him to China, where he spent the years between 1921 and 1925, with his wiife and two children, as part of the occupying force sent by the U.S., Great Britain, France, and Japan to keep things in line after the Boxer Rebellion.
In 1940 Art was political advisor to Ambassador Joseph Kennedy in LondonAfter Kennedy left, Art was then Advisor to Ambassador John Winant and Executive Military Attach during the Battle of Britain. In 1943, Art went to North Africa with Gen. Eisenhower, as Chief of World Press, Censorship and Psychological Warfare for Allied Forces, Mediterranean. When the Germans surrendered in Northern Italy in April, 1945, Art handled the press. When the war in Europe ended, Art handled all forms of informational media, including newspapers, periodicals, radio and music. He retired as Brigadier General in 1946. Art had won numerous medals of honor.
