About the Author:
Growing up in the Knit Knack Shop in Peru, Indiana, Tricia (Shafer) Edwards learned to machine knit at the young age of 7. Her mother, Charlene Shafer, taught her how to knit and write instructions for all her knit creations before she was in high school. Knitting has always been apart of Tricia's life. She studied fashion design at Purdue University in Indiana and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. It was no surprise that she choose to pursue a fashion design career as a knitwear designer in New York. Tricia also co-founded KnittersEdge.com in 2001, and she developed machine knitting patterns, videos, and technique instruction for it until she sold it in 2007. Today Tricia is an instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.
